ALBERTO PALOMINO
ALBERTO PALOMINO, MSW, RSW, REGISTERED MASTER SOCIAL WORKER
I am Alberto Palomino, a Registered Master Social Worker with over a decade of experience working with Vancouver’s urban Indigenous population on the traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.
I am a mixed Indigenous person with Nahua roots in Southern Mexico on my mother’s side and El Salvador on my father’s side. Through education and my experience having been raised in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, I have developed a well-rounded understanding of the effects of colonization throughout the Americas and have a deep passion for working with community through a resilience-informed and relational approach.
As a counsellor, I have worked around a variety of issues including trauma, inter-generational trauma, attachment, parenting support, child and youth mentorship, grief and loss, identity, depression, anxiety and situational stress. My counselling service provides an integration of therapeutic practices which encompass mainstream and cultural therapeutic approaches to support individuals in balancing their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
I am a registered counselling provider for First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). FNHA has a pre-approval process for counselling that I can we can discuss over a quick 20 minute consultation.
