AMANDA ROSE SCHELLENBERG
REGISTERED MASTER SOCIAL WORKER
Taanishi Amanda dishinihkaashoon. Hello, my name is Amanda. I am Red River Métis on my father’s side and of mixed European ancestry on my mother’s side. Originally from the Okanagan (Kelowna), I’ve lived on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples in Coast Salish territory (Vancouver) since 2014. I humbly acknowledge I am a visitor here. Outside of work, I am a daughter, sister, friend, and dog mom to Louie, with a passionate and curious spirit.
As a Registered Social Worker since 2014, I hold a Master of Social Work from UBC Vancouver and a Bachelor of Social Work from UBC Okanagan. My education and practice are deeply rooted in honouring Indigenous teachings and the knowledge shared by Elders and community members that I’ve had the privilege of meeting along the way.
In my practice, I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space where clients feel empowered to share their stories. I approach my work through a trauma-informed lens, honoring the lived experiences of each individual. My therapeutic framework incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), self-compassion, and attachment theory to help clients explore, heal, and grow. I am deeply committed to supporting clients on their journey toward resilience and self-discovery, encouraging them to embrace their strengths, honour their cultural identities, and reclaim their unique stories with authenticity and purpose. Pishshapmishko. Take good care.
