Counselling is a tool for individuals experiencing a difficult situation to resolve their emotional distress and enjoy greater wellness. First Nations Health Authority covers the services of qualified mental health providers, including psychologists, clinical counsellors and social workers.

INDIAN RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL RESOLUTION HEALTH SUPPORT PROGRAM

A national program aimed at addressing mental distress and intergenerational trauma resulting from the legacy of the residential school system in Canada. Services are available for residential school survivors and family members of those students. First Nations and non-First Nations individuals are eligible for the program.

MENTAL WELLNESS & COUNSELLING

Mental Wellness and Counselling is designed to support clients with Indian Status who are in need of professional assistance to resolve emotional distress and enjoy greater wellness.​

MISSING MURDERED INDIGENOUS WOMEN & GIRLS HEALTH SUPPORT SERVICES

A national program available to address mental distress and trauma resulting from the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada. Services are available for survivors, family members, and others affected by the issue. First Nations and non-First Nations individuals are eligible for the program.

INDIAN DAY SCHOOL HEALTH SUPPORT SERVICES

A national program administered for former students, or family members of a former student, who attended an Indian Day School. First Nations and non-First Nations individuals may be eligible for the program

PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALING

Connect with a counsellor who specializes in intergenerational healing and resilience. Informed by Indigenous wisdoms and Western models of practice, our counsellors will work with you to find balance in all directions of your medicine wheel, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

RESILIENCE INFORMED PRACTICE

Through education, employment, and lived experiences, our counsellors pride themselves in having deep understandings of the personal strengths and resilience that exists within each person and within community. Using a strengths based approach and recognizing the diversity that exists among Indigenous communities, our counsellors develop unique and culturally relevant treatment plans.

In partnership with First Nations Health Authority, our counsellors work from a resilience based approach, understand that your experience may be complex, and are dedicated to working through it with you every step of the way.

Health Benefits under First Nations Health Authority provide clients with access to counselling services from qualified mental health providers. Counselling is a tool for individuals experiencing a difficult situation to resolve their emotional distress and enjoy greater wellness. Health Benefits administers coverage for mental health counselling through hour programs:

  1. Mental Wellness and Counselling (MW&C)
  2. The Indian Residential School Resolution Health Support Program (IRS RHSP)
  3. The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Health Support Services (MMIWG HSS)
  4. Indian Day School Health Support Services (IDS HSS)

Each program has its own eligibility criteria. All services require prior approval from Health Benefits. Services not listed as a benefit may be covered on an exceptional basis. COMPLETE OUR INTAKE FORM TODAY

The first step to connecting with one of our counsellors is to complete our secure online intake form. The information from this form is then submitted to First Nations Health Authority for service approval. A counsellor will then connect with you and discuss your goals and begin the counselling process.
