Okii, my name is Nicole Big Sorrel Horse, I am Blood and St’at’imc and a member of Xaxl’ip First Nation. I am a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work from Thompson Rivers University and a Masters in Social Work from University of British Columbia Okanagan with over ten years of experience working in the social service field. I was raised on the traditional unceded territory of the Syilx First Nation and St’at’imc Nation. My passion is to provide an holistic healing approach that includes all areas of wellness (mental, spiritual, emotional and physical well being). For the past seven years, I have been employed in health care providing clinical support for Indigenous clients admitted to hospital struggling with chronic health conditions, new diagnosis and grief and loss.

My focus is to practice from a culturally safe and strength based approach.  The therapeutic approaches, I utilize include Self Regulation Therapy (SRT), motivational interviewing, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

The information from this form is then submitted to First Nations Health Authority for service approval. A counsellor will then connect with you and discuss your goals and begin the counselling process.
