WaitlistAbout Alberto P.
Hi, my name is Alberto Palomino. My roots are in Mexico on my mother’s side and El Salvador on my father’s side, and I was raised in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside on the traditional and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples.
I am a Registered Master Social Worker with a graduate degree from the University of Calgary. Over the past two decades, I have worked in counselling, crisis response, and community mental health, supporting individuals through trauma, acute stress, grief, and sudden critical incidents. These experiences have taught me the importance of compassion, steadiness, and meeting people where they are.
Alongside my counselling practice, I teach social sciences at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, which helps keep my clinical work grounded and current.
My therapeutic approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, drawing from DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. I focus on building trusting relationships and supporting clients at a pace that feels safe and manageable for them. I bring a patient, calming presence to my work, and I aim to create a space where people feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported as they move toward healing.
